My name is Andy van Rijn. I live in Aalsmeer with my wife and 2 children. I was born in Singapore. I lived there until I was 8 years old and did a lot of judo and swimming. Upon my return to the Netherlands, I started playing football and I was introduced to tennis.

I learned to play tennis at “Heineken”, where my father worked. It was mostly a club for seniors and I played a lot against adults. At that time, the dropshot became my biggest weapon. Apart from tennis, my favourite hobby is golf.

After completing my HAVO diploma at secondary school, I decided I wanted to make my living from tennis. Therefore I followed a CIOS (Central Institute for Sports Education) training. When I had finished the CIOS training I had to do my military service, where I enjoyed my role as sport instructor. At the same time, I was coaching tennis at “Heineken”. After completing my military service I started giving tennis lessons at various clubs in the Amstelveen area. I have my A and B licenses and have taken several application courses.

As head coach, I have been managing and delivering the winter and summer coaching programmes at TC Ouderkerk aan de Amstel (TCO) for over 20 years. At TCO I manage a team of 7 people. For the last 8 years I have been managing and delivering the coaching at TV Baambrugge as well, where we have a team of 3 or 4 coaches. Since 2015 I have been working with De Vliegende Hollander (DVH) where I give lessons, coordinate, assign and lead.

During the winter I offer coaching programmes for anyone who is interested (members and non-members of various clubs), for which I hire courts in a number of halls (De Kegel, De Startbaan, Strandvliet) in the Amstelveen area.
